305 Sprint Car Shootout

The Great American 305 Sprint Car Shootout

The Great American Dirt Track, (Jetmore, Kansas), is proud to introduce the “Great American 305 Sprint Car Shootout” for the 2013 racing season.  The “Shootout” will consist of three strategically planned nights of 305 Sprint Car racing that will take place during each of our three premiere racing nights.

The first night of the “Shootout” will take place on May 25th, 2013 as the supporting event for the Steve King Memorial, one of the “Crown Jewels” of sprint car racing, featuring The ASCS National 360 Sprint Series.

The second leg of the “Shootout” will coincide with the United States Modified Touring Series National Event at The Great American Dirt Track on June 20th, 2013.  The USMTS Nationals is the most followed Modified racing series throughout the United States.  You never know which famous driver may show up for this event.  In 2011, NASCAR drivers Kenny Schrader and Randy Lojoie attended this event.  Each held autograph sessions for the racing fans.

The third and final night of the three race “Shootout” will take place on July 4th, 2013 as the supporting event for the NCRA 360 Sprint Car Independence Day Celebration.  The event will include a fireworks display and music entertainment.

History:

The concept of the 305 Sprint Car originated in Jetmore, Kansas back in the year 2000 when seven sprint car drivers got together to build what was then called the Jetmore Motorplex.  The goal was to build a more economic sprint car that gave the race fans exciting sprint car action. Since 2000, the 305 Sprint Car has become one of the fastest growing Sprint Car concepts throughout the United States and is widely known as the most watched and ran Sprint Cars in the Western Kansas area.

Agenda for The Great American 305 Sprint Car Shootout Series:

Each of the three nights will be a full race schedule with heat races, B-Mains and the A-Feature.  The  Purse Payout for May 25th and June 20th will pay $600.00 to win and $125.00 to start.  There will be no pill draw fee for these two nights.  The Purse Payout for July 4th will be $1,000.00 to win and $200.00 to start. A pill draw fee will apply to this night.

Each driver will earn points for each night of participation based off of their finishing position.  At the end of the third and final night, July 4th, the points will be tallied with the driver accumulating the most points over the three race series being named the Grand Champion and awarded a $2,500.00 Bonus.  The runner up, (2nd in points), will receive a $1,500.00 Bonus with 3rd in points receiving a $1,000.00 Bonus.  This will be the highest paying three day event/series in the United States for the 305 Sprint Cars.

It is important to note that there will be no preference points given based off of any of the previous nights of these events.  Each driver will earn their spot to race in all three feature events.  Each driver will draw for starting positions in their heat races.  The top 8 heat race points finishers will automatically qualify for the Feature Event.  Each of the top 8 will have to redraw for their starting spot in the Feature.  The rest of the field will qualify based on their finishing position in their B-Mains.

The Great American Dirt Track recognizes the long time heritage of sprint car racing in Western Kansas.  As a salute to our supporters and fans, we have created The Great American 305 Sprint Car Shootout .

The Great American 305 Sprint Car Shootout is sponsored by Dodge City, Kansas based United Wireless.
