Jesse Stovall went from seventh to second in his heat race and started the main event form the pole. He led all thirty laps to score the preliminary night victory in the Showdown at the Great American Dirt Track in Jetmore, KS. “Hopefully we can transfer this in tomorrow night to get a good run,” stated Stovall in victory lane. “The car’s a lot different than what it was. We changed some shocks and stuff around. The cars got a lot of traction. I just need to figure out how to use it now. We’d like to win both nights but at least we got a win tonight.” The win is Stovall’s sixth of the season.

Terry Phillips continued his string of strong runs. Coming into the Showdown he had won four of his last five races. Friday he settled for runner up honors, but pressured Stovall on multiple occasions. Watsonville, CA Clay Daly finished third and was all over Phillips. The top three cars jockeyed for position amongst themselves throughout the feature. The lead pack had to battle lapped traffic and Stovall even had to swerve to miss a wreck by a lapped car, which set up a three lap sprint to the checkers.

Tonight will be the finale of the Showdown. Action is set for 7:30 PM. The race pays the winner $12,000, and $1,200 goes to every starter of the 50 lap feature. Time trials will set the heat race starting positions, and depending on the car count, the top three or four finishers will transfer. The race will be carried live on RacinDirt.com for those unable to attend.
